For Immediate Release Chicago Ties for Seventh at UAA Championship New York, N.Y. -- The University of Chicago volleyball team dropped four matches at the 2003 University Athletic Association Championship Friday and Saturday, Nov. 7-8 at New York University. As a result, the Maroons finished in a tie for seventh place. In pool play on Friday, the Maroons fell to Washington (Mo.) University 30-28, 30-25, 30-19; Carnegie Mellon University 30-18, 30-25, 30-28; and the University of Rochester 23-30, 30-32, 30-23, 30-25, 15-12. Chicago then lost to Case Western Reserve University 30-24, 30-16, 32-30 in the consolation semifinals. The Maroons finished the season with an overall record of 7-29, including a 1-10 mark in UAA competition. Washington def.
