Chicago Posts 1-3 Mark at UAA Round Robin

Rochester, N.Y. -- The University of Chicago volleyball team won one of four matches at the University Athletic Association round robin Saturday and Sunday at the University of Rochester.

In Saturday's action, the Maroons (6-23 overall, 1-6 UAA) fell to Case Western Reserve University 20-30, 30-27, 30-27, 30-28 and Emory 30-19, 30-22, 30-22. Chicago defeated Rochester 30-20, 30-23, 30-20 in Sunday's first match, before dropping a 30-25, 30-17, 30-21 decision to New York University in the final match of the weekend.

As a result of its 1-6 finish in the two UAA round robins, Chicago will be seeded eighth at the UAA Championships to be held at NYU on Nov. 7-8.

Case Reserve def. Chicago 20-30, 30-27, 30-27, 30-28
Sophomore outside hitter Katie Meinhover (Ottertail, Minn./ Perham) led the Maroons with 21 kills, while sophomore middle hitter Emma Hamilton (Washington, D.C./ National Cathedral) and sophomore outside hitter Erica Pettke (Sussex, Wis./ Divine Savior Holy Angels) hit 17 and 16, respectively. Sophomore libero Tracie Kenyon (Sunnyvale, Calif./ St. Francis) collected 25 digs.

Emory def. Chicago 30-19, 30-22, 30-22
Meinhover registered a team-high 12 kills. Kenyon posted 18 digs, while Meinhover and Pettke had 16 and 10, respectively.

Chicago def. Rochester 30-20, 30-23, 30-20
Meinhover hit 15 kills and posted a .375 attack percentage as the Maroons won their first conference match of the year. Pettke collected 13 kills and three blocks, and freshman middle hitter Leslie Kurkjian (San Francisco, Calif./ Lowell) finished with eight blocks. Hamilton contributed five blocks, including four solos.

NYU def. Chicago 30-25, 30-17, 30-21
Hamilton recorded five blocks, while Kenyon collected 15 digs.
