Seven Maroons Earn UAA Academic Distinction

Chicago -- Seven members of the University of Chicago women's cross country team were honored as the University Athletic Association announced the fall recipients of the conference's All-Academic Recognition award.

The seven recipients were:

Senior Hannah Benton (Devon, Pa./ Conestoga)
Junior Emily Kay (Madison, Wis./ West)
Junior Erin Steiner (Western Springs, Ill./ Lyons Township)
Sophomore Beverly Chang (Taipei, Taiwan/ American School)
Sophomore Sarah Eldridge (Swarthmore, Pa./ Strath Haven)
Sophomore Annie Sanders (Madison, Wis./ West)
Sophomore Jessica Winter (Wheaton, Ill./ Wheaton-Warrenville South)

The seven women's harriers were among 59 Chicago fall sport student-athletes to receive UAA All-Academic Recognition, which is awarded to student-athletes who have completed at least one full year of college study and who carry a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20.

The UAA Presidents Council established the All-Academic Recognition award in 1998 to recognize the high level of academic achievement demonstrated by Association student-athletes who effectively balance their significant commitment of time, effort, and energy in athletic endeavor with their highly challenging academic responsibilities.
