Sean Barnes Posts 1-2 Mark at Nationals

Northfield, Minn. -- University of Chicago senior Sean Barnes (Wheaton, Ill./ Wheaton-Warrenville South) posted a 1-2 record at the 2005 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship Friday and Saturday at St. Olaf College.

Barnes, who was unseeded at heavyweight, opened the tournament with an 11-3 loss to second-seeded Blake Gillis of Wartburg College.

In his next bout, Barnes posted a 9-6 decision over seventh-seeded Arkaidy Levitan of Hunter College.

Barnes was eliminated from the tournament in his third bout, a 7-4 loss to eighth-seeded Pat Bennett of the State University of New York at Brockport.

Barnes finished the year with a record of 31-10.
