For Immediate Release Chicago Finishes Eighth at 2005 UAA Championship Chicago -- The University of Chicago women's swimming & diving team placed eighth at the 2005 University Athletic Association Championship at Chicago's Myers-McLoraine Pool. Seniors Deb Ayoub (Miami, Fla./ Coral Reef), Erin Lyons (Potomac, Md./ Churchill), and Emily Testa (Evanston, Ill./ Evanston) each placed in the consolation finals. Ayoub earned 14th place in the 200-yard individual medley (2:18.60), while Lyons finished 14th in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:54.49). Testa posted a 15th-place effort in the 100-yard freestyle (57.08 seconds). Sophomore Katherine
Yang (Palo Alto, Calif./ Gunn) recorded 11th-place finishes in the
200- and 1,650-yard freestyle events (2:00.91, 18:27.25). Emory University won the team title for the seventh consecutive year and for the 13th time in the 18-year history of the event. Chicago hosted the four-day competition for the first time since the opening of the Myers-McLoraine Pool at the Ratner Athletics Center in 2003. |
