For Immediate Release Maroons Take Top Honors at Chicago Invite Chicago -- Juniors Erin Lyons (Potomac, Md./ Winston Churchill) and Emily Testa (Evanston, Ill./ Evanston) each set an individual pool record and were members of three pool record-setting relay teams as the University of Chicago women's swimming team won the six-team Chicago Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Myers-McLoriane Pool. Lyons set a pool record in the 1,650-yard freestyle (18:35.27), while Testa posted an all-time pool best time in the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.77). Lyons and Testa joined junior Deb Ayoub (Miami, Fla./ Coral Reef) and freshman Katherine Yang (Palo Alto, Calif./ Gunn) to establish Myers-McLoraine pool records in the 400- and 800-yard freestyle relays (3:58.00, 8:39.67). Lyons and Testa also swam on the 400-yard medley relay team, along with Ayoub and senior Nicole Voelkel (Tucson, Ariz./ University), which registered a pool record time of 4:26.78. Chicago finished first in the team standings with 857 points. The College of DuPage was the runner-up with 818. |
