April 21, 2006 KENOSHA, Wis. -- The University of Chicago baseball team fell to eighth-ranked Carthage College 17-7 on Friday afternoon. Carthage (21-6) scored the game's first 11 runs, including an eight-run outburst in the bottom of the second inning off senior pitcher Dan Yeksigian (Downers Grove, Ill./ Benet), who lost for only the second time in his last 14 decisions. He is 5-2 on the year. Junior second baseman Tony Zitek (Tampa, Fla./ Plant) went 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBIs as Chicago (10-14) saw its four-game winning streak come to an end. David Hermes drove in four runs for Carthage, while Steve Coughlin collected three RBIS. |
