April 18, 2006 CHICAGO -- Junior shortstop Allen Cooper (Newburyport, Mass./ Governor Dummer) went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and a pair of runs batted in as the University of Chicago baseball team defeated North Park University 13-3 Tuesday at J. Kyle Anderson Field. Eight of the Maroons' nine batters collected at least one hit, and seven had an RBI as Chicago (10-13) won its fourth consecutive game -- all with 10 or more runs scored. Freshman left fielder Kyle Schmitt (Hoffman Estates, Ill./ Fremd) went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while junior second baseman Tony Zitek (Tampa, Fla./ Plant) went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Junior first baseman Dan Cozzi (Park Ridge, Ill./ St. Ignatius) drove in a pair of runs. Sophomore left-hander Nathan Ginsberg (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./ Dobbs Ferry) evened his record at 2-2 with his second complete game of the year. He allowed just one hit through the first six innings. Vladimir Torres scored one run and drove in another for North Park (10-18). |
