April 11, 2006 CHICAGO -- Sophomore center fielder Nathan Ginsberg (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./ Dobbs Ferry) drove in five runs and collected four hits as the University of Chicago baseball team routed Wheaton (Ill.) College 17-4 Tuesday at J. Kyle Anderson Field. Ginsberg went 4-for-5 with a pair of triples to lead the Maroons' (7-13) 17-hit onslaught in a game called because of darkness after seven innings. Senior designated hitter Ryan Denton (Worth, Ill./ Marist), junior second baseman Tony Zitek (Tampa, Fla./ Plant), and freshman catcher Scott Hofer (San Marino, Calif./ Flintridge Prep) each had three hits on the day. Denton and sophomore left fielder Mike Serio (Antioch, Ill./ Carmel) both had three RBIs as Chicago won for the third time in four games at J. Kyle Anderson Field this season. Junior pitcher Robert Wilson (Diggs, Idaho/ Teton) came out of the bullpen to earn his first career victory, allowing one run in two innings. Freshman hurler Alex Gallan (Downers Grove, Ill./ South) closed out the game with one and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief. Matt Price knocked in a pair of runs for the Thunder (9-12). |
