December 21, 2005 CHICAGO -- University of Chicago senior cornerback Colin Carrier (Glen Ellyn, Ill./ Benet Academy) and senior defensive tackle Rob Tamillow (Oak Park, Ill./ Fenwick) have been named to the D3football.com All-North Region Team as second team selections. Carrier led the NCAA Division III in interceptions per game in 2005 as he picked off 10 passes in nine contests. He finished his career holding Chicago modern era records for most interceptions in a game (3), season (10), and career (15). He also saw action as a wide receiver this past season, catching 18 passes with four touchdown receptions. The 2005 University Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year and an Aztec Bowl selection, Tamillow ranked second in the nation in tackles-for-loss per game (2.5) and fifth in sacks per game (1.2). He notched a pair of school records with 24 tackles-for-loss and 12 sacks to lead a Chicago defense that ranked among the NCAA Division III top 15 in four categories. Chicago captured its third UAA championship (1998, 2000, 2005) with a 3-0 mark in league play this past season. After starting the season 0-4, the Maroons won their final five games by a combined score of 173-23 en route to their first winning campaign since 2001. |
