Chicago Names 2006 Captains

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago Head Football Coach Dick Maloney announced today that juniors Tom Miller (Chicago, Ill./ Marist), Matt Rinklin (New York, N.Y./ Fordham Prep), and Nick Schey (Barrington, Ill./ St. Viator) have been elected co-captains of the 2006 team.

A two-year starter on the defensive line, Miller earned All-University Athletic Association second team recognition a year ago. He has collected nine tackles-for-loss and three sacks during the past two seasons.

Rinklin was honored as the UAA's top signal caller after throwing for 1,920 yards and 17 touchdowns this past fall. In his first year at Chicago, Rinklin completed a school record 58.0% of his pass attempts.

Schey garnered All-UAA first team accolades after rushing for 889 yards (111.1 per game) with seven touchdowns and a 5.4-yard average per carry in his first year as a starter in 2005. In UAA play, Schey posted rushing totals of 132, 141, and 211 yards for an average of 161.3 per contest.

Chicago kicks off its 2006 campaign when it entertains Concordia (Ill.) University on Saturday, Sept. 9.
