November 10, 2005 CHICAGO -- University of Chicago senior cornerback/wide receiver Colin Carrier (Glen Ellyn, Ill./ Benet Academy) has been named an NCAA Division III Player of the Week by the Football Gazette. Carrier registered a Chicago modern era record three interceptions, including a pair of picks inside the 10-yard line to stop potential scoring drives, as the Maroons captured the 2005 University Athletic Association championship with a 14-7 win over Case Western Reserve University this past Saturday at Stagg Field. Carrier, who currently leads the NCAA Division III with 1.3 interceptions per game, also established Chicago records for most picks in a season (10) and career (15) in last week's victory. In addition to his defensive performance, Carrier was the Maroons' leading receiver with four catches for 57 yards. |
