October 26, 2005 Chicago -- Sixty-eight University of Chicago student-athletes representing six sports have been honored as the University Athletic Association announced the fall recipients of the conference's All-Academic Recognition award. UAA All-Academic Recognition is awarded to student-athletes who have completed at least one full year of college study and who carry a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20. Among Chicago's 68 honorees were 20 All-UAA selections, 11 all-region performers, three All-Americans, two academic all-district picks, and one Rhodes Scholar. The UAA Presidents Council established the All-Academic Recognition award in 1998 to recognize the high level of academic achievement demonstrated by Association student-athletes who effectively balance their significant commitment of time, effort, and energy in athletic endeavor with their highly challenging academic responsibilities. |
