January 24, 2006 CHICAGO -- University of Chicago juniors Emil Bojanov (Sofia, Bulgaria/ Dulaney, Md.) and Phil Kruzel (Elmhurst, Ill./ Fenwick) have been recognized as the University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for men's indoor track & field and wrestling, respectively. Bojanov turned in an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying performance in the mile run at the Jan. 21 Chicago Invitational, posting a time of 4:14.61. He also won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.41. Bojanov earned his third straight UAA weekly citation and the fourth of his career. Kruzel won the 174-pound title at the Manchester College Spartan Mat Classic this past Saturday. Seeded third, he won four matches including an 8-5 decision over the #2 seed and a 7-4 victory over the top seed in the championship match. He was honored for the first time in his career. |
