Jeff White Named Assistant Tennis Coach
CHICAGO -- University of Chicago Director of Athletics Tom Weingartner announced today the appointment of Jeff White as assistant men's and women's tennis coach and coordinator of promotions.
White is a 2005 graduate of Coe College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in political science and classical studies. A four-year member of the men's tennis team, he was an All-Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference performer in singles and doubles while serving as team captain in 2005. White helped guide Coe to four straight IIAC team titles and NCAA Division III regional appearances. He finished his career ranked ninth on Coe's all-time victories list with 121.
Following his playing career at Coe, White served a five-month stint as an assistant tennis professional in West Chester, Pennsylvania, in late 2005 before accepting a post as tennis professional in Greeley, Colorado, in January 2006.
White joins the staff of Head Coach Marty Perry, who enters his fourth season at Chicago in 2006-07. In three years under Perry, the Maroons have earned their first-ever NCAA Division III postseason appearances and produced a pair of All-Americans.
