February 28, 2006 CHICAGO -- University of Chicago juniors Brandon Woodhead (Lincoln, Neb./ East) and Jesse Meyer (Omaha, Neb./ Bellevue West) have been selected to the 2005-06 All-University Athletic Association men's basketball team, the conference announced today. Woodhead was chosen to the All-UAA second team, while Meyer earned honorable mention recognition. Both players were honorable mention picks a year ago. Woodhead led the Maroons and ranked second in the league with 4.5 assists per game. His 113 assists marked the fourth-highest season output in school history. Woodhead was also the team's second-leading scorer with 10.8 points per game. He reached double digits on 14 occasions, including eight of 14 conference affairs. Meyer tied a Chicago season record with 68 three-point field goals, which placed him third in the UAA. He also led the club in scoring (12.5) and free throw percentage (82.8%). Meyer, who hit at least one three-point basket in 24 of 25 contests, scored in double figures 17 times. In UAA competition, Meyer led the Maroons in scoring (13.8) and rebounding (5.7). Chicago finished in third place in the UAA with an 8-6 record in conference action. The Maroons posted a 15-10 overall mark en route to their ninth winning season in the past 11 years. |
