For Immediate Release Maroons Win Elmhurst Earlybird Invite Elmhurst, Ill. -- Junior Emil Bojanov (Sofia, Bulgaria/ Dulaney, Md.) and senior Teage O'Connor (Thousand Oaks, Calif./ Thousand Oaks) were the top two individual finishers as the 11th-ranked University of Chicago men's cross country team opened its 2005 campaign with a first-place finish at the Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational on Saturday. Bojanov and O'Connor placed first and second among 61 runners with respective times of 15:51 and 15:56 on the 5-kilometer course. Senior Pat Hogan (Seattle, Wash./ Shorecrest) finished in fourth place overall -- third place among runners from the six teams competing in the team scoring -- with a time of 15:58. Junior Brian Hague (Chicago, Ill./ Brother Rice) and freshman John Ascolese (Loveland, Ohio/ Loveland) placed sixth (16:28) and seventh (16:29) overall, respectively. Chicago won the event with 17 points. Host Elmhurst was the runner-up with 49. |
