For Immediate Release Maroons Rout Beloit 7-1 Chicago -- Senior forward Ryan Ehle (Holland, Ohio/ St. John's Jesuit) scored two goals as the University of Chicago men's soccer team defeated Beloit College 7-1 Wednesday at Stagg Field. Chicago (8-2-0) tallied three times in the game's first 11 minutes. Freshman forward Eric Floyd (McMurray, Pa./ Peters) opened the scoring with his fifth goal of the year at the 2:48 mark. After an own goal at 6:58, senior midfielder Joe Frontczak (Creve Coeur, Mo./ Chaminade) notched his team-leading seventh goal of the season at the 10:50 mark. Ehle scored his first goal of the match at 28:19 to give the Maroons a 4-0 lead. Beloit (4-5-0) got on the board on a goal by Matt Buechler at 30:24, but the Maroons answered with the second own goal of the match at 35:17 to make the score 5-1 at the intermission. Junior forward Jon Allan (Afton, Minn./ Mounds Park Academy) scored 2:28 into the second half -- his third goal of the campaign -- before Ehle capped the scoring with his sixth of the season at 76:38. Ehle has scored four goals in the Maroons' last four outings. Sophomore forward Andrew Hamilton (Springfield, Ill./ Sacred Heart Griffin) collected a pair of assists on the day. |
