October 30, 2005 BOSTON -- Sophomore midfielder Eric Kirkenmeier (Wheaton, Ill./ Benet Academy) and senior forward Ryan Ehle (Holland, Ohio/ St. John's Jesuit) scored in the game's first six minutes as the 25th-ranked University of Chicago men's soccer team defeated host Brandeis University 3-1 in University Athletic Association action on Sunday. Kirkenmeier scored his third goal of the year just 1:58 into the contest, before Ehle tallied his eighth of the campaign at the 5:13 mark to give Chicago (12-5 overall, 4-2 UAA) the early advantage. Brandeis (6-8-2, 0-4-2) got on the board at the 41:14 mark on a goal by Kayne Ryan to make the score 2-1 in favor of Chicago at halftime. Sophomore midfielder Stuart Phelps (Helena, Mont./ Capital) scored the Maroons' third goal -- his second in as many matches -- at the 81:17 mark. Junior goalkeeper Keith Crum (Holland, Pa./ Council Rock South) needed to make just one save as the Maroons outshot Brandeis 22-7. |
