Maroons Defeat Carnegie Mellon in UAA Opener

Pittsburgh -- Senior forward Ryan Ehle (Holland, Ohio/ St. John's Jesuit) scored the game's only goal in the 79th minute to lift the University of Chicago men's soccer team to a 1-0 win over host Carnegie Mellon University in the University Athletic Association opener for both teams on Sunday.

Ehle tallied his fourth goal of the year off an assist from junior defender Brian Kolva (Oswego, N.Y./ Oswego) at the 78:10 mark.

Junior netminder Keith Crum (Holland, Pa./ Council Rock South) made five saves to record his second shutout of the year and the Maroons' fifth in nine outings on the season.

Chicago, which defeated the five-time defending UAA champion Tartans for the second time in the past three years, improved its overall record to 7-2.

Carnegie Mellon dropped to 5-1-1.
