Maroons Defeat #6 Emory 4-0

Chicago -- Freshman forward Eric Floyd (McMurray, Pa./ Peters) scored a pair of goals as the University of Chicago men's soccer team defeated sixth-ranked Emory University 4-0 in University Athletic Association action Saturday at Stagg Field.

Chicago (9-2-0 overall, 2-0-0 UAA) scored twice in the game's first seven minutes. Floyd tallied off an assist from senior forward Brian Standerfer (Winston-Salem, N.C./ West Forsyth) at the 3:35 mark before senior midfielder Joe Frontczak (Creve Coeur, Mo./ Chaminade) notched his team-high eighth of the season at 6:57. Senior midfielder Giordano Palloni (Madison, Wis./ West) picked up the assist, his first of two on the day.

The Maroons took a 3-0 lead just 1:44 into the second half on Floyd's second goal of the afternoon and seventh of the campaign from junior forward Alex Chinco (Sacramento, Calif./ Jesuit).

Sophomore forward Andrew Hamilton (Springfield, Ill./ Sacred Heart Griffin) rounded out the scoring with his second of the year at 65:20. Palloni was credited with the assist, increasing his team-leading total to seven.

Junior goalkeeper Keith Crum (Holland, Pa./ Council Rock South) made a season-high eight saves to post his third shutout of the season and the 14th of his career, good for second place all-time at Chicago.

Emory (10-1-0, 1-1-0), which had outscored its previous 10 opponents by a 33-2 margin, suffered its first loss of the season.
