November 7, 2005 CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago men's soccer team has received a bid to participate in the 2005 NCAA Division III Championship tournament to be held at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 12-13. In first round competition on Saturday, Chicago (13-5) will take on St. John's (Minn.) University (14-2-3) at 11:00 a.m. Saturday's other first-round match will feature host Wartburg (17-3) against St. Norbert College (16-2) at 1:30 p.m. The winners of Saturday's matches will meet Sunday in second round action. Sunday's winner will advance to the national sections the following weekend. Head Coach John O'Connor's team makes its third appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament. An at-large selection to this year's 57-team tournament, the Maroons reached the national semifinals in 1996 and the regional semifinals in 2001. |
