October 28, 2005 HOBOKEN, N.J. -- Four different players scored as host New York University defeated the 25th-ranked University of Chicago men's soccer team 4-1 in University Athletic Association action on Friday. NYU's (9-6-1 overall, 1-4 UAA) Jeritt Thayer and Robert Keller gave the Violets a 2-0 lead with goals at 31:30 and 35:09. Chicago (11-5, 3-2) cut the gap to 2-1 with 16 seconds left in the first half when sophomore midfielder Stuart Phelps (Helena, Mont./ Capital) scored his first goal of the year off an assist from senior midfielder Giordano Palloni (Madison, Wis./ West). Palloni's assist was his eighth of the season, matching the second-highest total in school history. NYU put the game away with two goals during a seven-minute span in the second stanza. Jake Stolarski tallied at 57:55, before Max Sachar capped the scoring at the 63:26 mark. |
