November 5, 2005 CHICAGO -- Sophomore midfielder Stuart Phelps (Helena, Mont./ Capital) scored a pair of goals as the 25th-ranked University of Chicago men's soccer team concluded its regular season with a 3-0 win over University Athletic Association rival Washington (Mo.) University Saturday at Stagg Field. Phelps tallied at 31:05 and 77:50, giving him four goals on the year -- all in his last three matches. Chicago (13-5 overall, 5-2 UAA) added an own goal in the 88th minute. Junior goalkeeper Keith Crum (Holland, Pa./ Council Rock South) made six saves to record his sixth shutout of the season. Washington ended its season at 8-7-4 overall, 1-5-1 in UAA play. Chicago will await Monday's (Nov. 7) announcement of the field for the 2005 NCAA Division III tournament. The Maroons are in contention for an at-large berth. |
