October 22, 2005 CHICAGO -- Senior forward Ryan Ehle (Holland, Ohio/ St. John's Jesuit) scored the only goal of the match in overtime as the 25th-ranked University of Chicago men's soccer team defeated the 24th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 1-0 Saturday at Stagg Field. UW-Whitewater (13-1-1) entered the game atop the Central Region, two spots ahead of Chicago (11-4), in the latest NCAA Division III regional rankings. Senior forward Brian Standerfer (Winston-Salem, N.C./ West Forsyth) assisted on Ehle's goal -- his seventh of the season -- 6:41 into the first overtime period. Standerfer's assist marked his sixth of the year. Junior netminder Keith Crum (Holland, Pa./ Council Rock South) made five saves including a key stop at close range early in the overtime. The shutout was Crum's fifth of the year and the eighth by Chicago this season. Grant Collins made eight saves for the visiting Warhawks. Chicago improved to 3-1 against nationally-ranked opponents. |
