November 12, 2005 CHICAGO -- Freshman Shane Carlson (Houston, Texas/ Memorial) won two events and set a pair of team records as the University of Chicago men's swimming & diving team took top honors at the eight-team Maroon Invitational Friday and Saturday at the Myers-McLoraine Pool. Carlson won the 500- and 1,650-yard freestyles (4:49.32, 16:28.89) and placed second in the 400-yard individual medley (4:15.92). His 1,650-freestyle and 400-IM times established school records. Other individual event winners included sophomore Jason Azares (Denville, N.J./ Morris Knolls) in the 200-yard butterfly (1:58.52), sophomore Zachary Ergish (Moreno Valley, Calif./ Valley View) in the 200-yard IM (2:05.49), and sophomore Pat Seastedt (Lakewood, N.Y./ Central) in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.85). Chicago collected 848.5 points in the team standings. Luther College was the runner-up with 752. |
