January 7, 2006 OLIVET, Mich. -- The University of Chicago men's swimming & diving team dropped a 160-132 decision to host Olivet College on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Shane Carlson (Houston, Texas/ Memorial) won a pair of events, taking top honors in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle with respective times of 1:46.20 and 4:44.05. Three other Maroons posted first-place finishes: junior James Viccaro (Riverside, Ill./ Riverside-Brookfield) in the 50-yard freestyle (22.09 seconds), sophomore Hiro Hayashi (Tokyo, Japan/ St. Marys) in the 100-yard freestyle (49.21 seconds), and freshman Alex Stabell (Godfrey, Ill./ Alton) in the 100-yard butterfly (53.37 seconds). With their first dual meet loss of the season, the Maroons fell to 5-1-1. |
