Jason Weber Named Men's & Women's Swimming Coach

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago Director of Athletics Tom Weingartner announced today the appointment of Jason Weber as head men's and women's swimming coach and director of aquatics.

Weber has served as Chicago's assistant men's swimming coach and assistant aquatics director for the past two years. In that capacity, he has been involved in all phases of coaching, recruiting, and administration.

"This is a dream job for me, and it is exciting to know that I will be able to continue my career at such a prominent institution," said Weber. "I look forward to working with the distinguished and accomplished faculty and staff at Chicago. With our amazing aquatics facility, this is an exciting time be a part of the Chicago swimming family."

"Jason has earned the respect of his student-athletes, been actively involved in recruiting two classes to the swimming program, participated extensively in the management of the aquatics facility, and served as an enthusiastic and skilled instructor in our masters swim program. With one of the premier aquatics facilities in the country, I believe that he is ready  to assume the head coaching responsibilities and develop our program into one of the best in the nation," said Weingartner.

Prior to his arrival at Chicago in the fall of 2004, Weber served as a sport partnership intern for the United States Olympic Committee in 2003 and as an assistant age group coach for Conejo Simi Aquatics in Thousand Oaks, California, from October 2002 to August 2003.

Weber is a 2002 graduate of Brown University with a bachelor's degree in psychology. He was a member of the Brown swimming team from 1998-2002 and in 2000 competed in the United States Olympic Trials. He received a master's degree in sports management from the University of San Francisco in 2004.
