January 21, 2006 WHEATON, Ill. -- The University of Chicago men's swimming and diving team dropped a pair of dual meets Saturday at the Wheaton College Triangular, falling to the host Thunder 138-66 and to Carthage College 145-59. Freshman Shane Carlson (Houston, Texas/ Memorial) won a pair of events, taking top honors in the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle with respective times of 4:43.49 and 9:44.43. His time in the 1,000-yard freestyle eclipsed the previous school record by 13 seconds. He established a team record in the 500-yard freestyle a week ago. Chicago fell to 5-3-1 in dual meets this season. |
