Ward Bortz Falls at NCAA III Singles Championship

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- University of Chicago senior Ward Bortz (Brookfield, Wis./ Marquette) was eliminated in the opening round of the 2006 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Singles Championship Saturday at Mary Washington University.

Bortz dropped a 6-2, 7-5 decision to Shane Templeman of the University of Santa-Cruz in the first-round matchup.

Bortz finished the 2005-06 season with a 17-9 record and a 43-19 career mark.
