April 14, 2006 CHICAGO -- The 19th-ranked University of Chicago men's tennis team defeated Luther College 7-0 in a matchup of Central Region rivals Friday afternoon at the Stagg Field Courts. Chicago, which entered the match ranked eighth in the region, improved to 10-8 on the season with its fifth victory in its last seven contests. Senior Ward Bortz (Brookfield, Wis./ Marquette), the region's sixth-ranked singles player, defeated #15 Christian Klein 6-2, 1-6, 6-0 at first singles. Bortz and junior Vivek Venkataraman (Columbus, Ohio/ Columbus Academy) notched a 9-7 victory at first doubles. Luther, the 15th-ranked team in the region, fell to 13-11. Chicago 7, Luther 0
