April 4, 2006 WHEATON, Ill. -- The 19th-ranked University of Chicago men's tennis team notched its fourth consecutive victory on Tuesday as it defeated regional rival Wheaton (Ill.) College 5-2. Chicago (9-6) took four of six singles matches and swept three doubles contests. Senior Ward Bortz (Brookfield, Wis./ Marquette) posted a 6-2, 6-2 win at first singles and teamed with junior Vivek Venkataraman (Columbus, Ohio/ Columbus Academy) to record an 8-0 win at first doubles. The Maroons (#8 Central Region) improved to 7-5 in regional play, including a 5-5 mark against ranked opponents. Ranked 11th in the Central Region, Wheaton dropped to 10-7.
