February 18, 2006 CHICAGO -- In a matchup of top Central Region men's tennis teams, the 25th-ranked University of Chicago dropped a 4-3 decision to the visiting University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday evening. Senior Ward Bortz (Brookfield, Wis./ Marquette), the region's eighth-ranked singles player, defeated 19th-ranked Jordan Schilts 6-3, 6-2. Bortz improved to 8-3 on the season. At second doubles, Bortz teamed with freshman Alex Winney (Yorktown, Ind./ Yorktown) to notch an 8-5 victory. The tandem is now 4-1 this year. The region's sixth-ranked squad, Chicago slipped to 5-2 in dual match competition, while the 13th-ranked Warhawks improved to 8-2. Wis.-Whitewater 4, Chicago 3 Singles Doubles |
