Maroons Drop Four at Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The University of Chicago softball team lost four games at Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday and Sunday to fall to 11-7 on the year.

Washington (Mo.) 5, Chicago 2 (Apr. 8)
The Bears tallied three times in the top of the eighth as the Maroons dropped their second extra-inning affair of the season. Chicago tied the game in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI double by sophomore catcher Vanessa Pineros (Mukilteo, Wash./ Kamiak) and a run-scoring single off the bat of sophomore right fielder Cassie Wierenga (Worth, Ill./ Shepard). |

Fontbonne 5, Chicago 1 (Apr. 8)
Fontbonne scored three times in the first three innings and outhit the Maroons 13-6 in Saturday's second contest. Pineros went 2-for-3 in a losing effort. | Box Score

Chicago led 4-2 after three innings, but the Bears scored twice in the fourth and plated the winning run in the top of the sixth. Wierenga belted a two-run home run, her second of the year. | Box Score
