May 2, 2006 WHITEWATER, Wis. -- A solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning in game one and a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning in game two lifted the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater to a pair of wins over the University of Chicago softball team on Tuesday afternoon. In the opening contest, UW-Whitewater's Kyley Shramek homered off junior Petra Wade (Batavia, Ill./ Batavia) with two outs in the sixth inning to account for the game's lone run. Chicago collected only five hits against UW-Whitewater hurler Jessie Harmeyer (10-7), while the Warhawks managed just three hits off Wade. Ashley Trawitzki's run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Warhawks (25-13) a 2-1 victory in the nightcap. Wade fell to 17-6 as she recorded her seventh complete game in Chicago's (18-12) last eight outings. UW-Whitewater's Dianna Frisbie (11-2) earned the game two victory. Senior third baseman Kayti Fuhr (Taylor Ridge, Ill./ Rockridge) went 3-for-6 in the two games for the Maroons. |
