Maroons Tie For Seventh
at UAA Championship
BOSTON -- The
University of Chicago volleyball team tied for seventh place at the 2005
University Athletic Association Championship Friday and Saturday at Brandeis
University. After posting an 0-3 mark in pool play, the Maroons dropped
a 3-0 decision to the University of Rochester in the consolation semifinals.

Washington (Mo.) def. Chicago 30-20, 30-17, 30-14
Sophomore middle hitter Koryn Kendall (Napa, Calif./ Vintage)
led the Maroons with 11 kills and a .429 hitting percentage (11-2-21)
against the top-ranked Bears.
Carnegie
Mellon def. Chicago 22-30, 30-21, 30-23, 30-21
Senior right side hitter Erica Pettke (Sussex, Wis./ Divine
Savior Holy Angels) collected a team-best 14 kills and Kendall added
12 as Chicago fell to the Tartans in four games. Kendall attempted 22
attacks without an error, while contributing three blocks.
Case
def. Chicago 19-30, 30-21, 30-27, 25-30, 15-12
Kendall and Pettke paced the Maroons with 16 and 11 kills, respectively,
in a five-game loss to Case in the final pool play contest. Freshman middle
hitter Katie Volzer (North Canton, Ohio/ Lake) served five aces.
Rochester
def. Chicago 30-21, 30-19, 30-27
Kendall capped the weekend with a 10-kill performance in the consolation
semifinal match. Pettke and senior libero Rose Kulczycki (Urbana, Ill./
Urbana) led the Maroons with 12 digs, while senior outside hitter
Katie Meinhover (Ottertail, Minn./ Perham) finished with 11.
