February 10, 2006 CHICAGO -- Senior Susie Gutowski (Northampton, Mass./ Northampton) led three Maroons in double figures with 12 points as the University of Chicago women's basketball team defeated Emory University 54-36 in University Athletic Association play Friday at the Ratner Athletics Center. Chicago (16-5 overall, 5-5 UAA) held Emory (14-7, 4-6) to 19.4% shooting from the field (12-for-62) en route to its second straight win. The Maroons led 26-17 at the break and scored the first six points of the second stanza to build a 32-17 advantage at the 15:34 mark. Chicago led by at least 11 points the rest of the way. Senior Jenn Kaiser (San Diego, Calif./ LaJolla) and freshman Alex Leach (Gurnee, Ill./ Warren) each scored 11 points off the bench. Leach also grabbed a game-high nine boards as the Maroons posted a 54-42 rebounding edge. Lora Turner paced the Eagles with nine points. |
