For Immediate Release Chicago Wins Elmhurst Earlybird Invite Elmhurst, Ill. -- Senior Jessica Winter (Wheaton, Ill./ Wheaton-Warrenville South) took top individual honors as the University of Chicago women's cross country team opened its 2005 season with a first-place finish at the Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational on Saturday. Winter covered the 3,200-meter course in 11:31 to lead the 102-runner field. Senior Annie Sanders (Madison, Wis./ West) and junior Dilshanie Perera (Princeton, N.J./ Princeton) placed fifth and sixth, respectively, with times of 12:07 and 12:09. Chicago won the event with 30 points. Northern Illinois University was the runner-up with 50. |
