November 12, 2005 PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior Jessica Winter (Wheaton, Ill./ Wheaton-Warrenville South) and junior Dilshanie Perera (Princeton, N.J./ Princeton) earned all-region honors as the University of Chicago women's cross country team placed sixth at the 39-team NCAA Division III Midwest Region Championship on Saturday. Chicago collected 220 points in the team standings, finishing just seven points behind the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh as the fifth and final team to qualify for next week's NCAA Division III Championship meet at Ohio Wesleyan University. Winter clocked a time of 21:11 on the six-kilometer course which was seven seconds off the pace of individual champion Julia Rudd of UW-LaCrosse. As a result of her second-place finish, Winter advances to the Nov. 19 national championship meet. Perera finished 17th overall with a time 22:06 to join Winter on the All-Midwest Region team. |
