October 29, 2005 PITTSBURGH -- Senior Jessica Winter (Wheaton, Ill./ Wheaton-Warrenville South) was the individual runner-up as the University of Chicago women's cross country team finished third at the 2005 University Athletic Association Championship Saturday at Carnegie Mellon University. Winter, who earned All-UAA honors for the third consecutive season, covered the six-kilometer course in 22:18, which was 11 seconds off the pace of Washington (Mo.) University's Beth Herndon. Juniors Dilshanie Perera (Princeton, N.J./ Princeton) and Vidthya Abraham (Spartanburg, S.C./ Governor's Math & Science) claimed All-UAA second team recognition after finishing ninth and 10th, respectively, with times of 23:01.20 and 23:01.70. Washington won the event with 31 points, finishing ahead of Emory University (72) and Chicago (77). |
