Maroons Defeat Wabash in Home Opener

CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago wrestling team opened the home portion of its 2005-06 campaign Wednesday night with a 24-18 win over Wabash College at the Ratner Athletics Center.

Match winners for the Maroons included juniors Ben Barnes (Wheaton, Ill./ Wheaton Warrenville South) at 184 pounds (dec. 6-5), Mike Bishof (Oak Brook, Ill./ York) at 165 (F 1:19), Andrew Bribriesco (Bettendorf, Iowa/ Bettendorf) at 149 (dec. 9-4), and Phil Kruzel (Elmhurst, Ill./ Fenwick) at 174 (F 2:25).

With the victory, Chicago evened its dual match record at 1-1.
