DeLeon, Connett Named All-Americans

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago senior women's soccer players Jacqui DeLeon (Mission Viejo, Calif./ Trabuco Hills) and Diana Connett (Noblesville, Ind./ Noblesville) have been named to the 2005 NCAA Division III All-America team in balloting conducted by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

DeLeon and Connett were selected to the All-America first and second teams, respectively, after leading the Maroons to the NCAA Division III national semifinals and an 18-3-2 overall record.

DeLeon, who was a second-team All-American midfielder a year ago, led the Maroons with 10 assists this season and finished her career as Chicago's all-time leader in that category with 29. She also scored three goals, including a pair of game-winners.

Connett led a Chicago defensive unit which held opponents to 13 goals in 23 matches with 13 shutouts. Connett, who also contributed two goals and an assist, earned All-America accolades for the second time in her career. She was a second team pick in 2003.

DeLeon, Connett, and senior forward Renee Neuner (Haslett, Mich./ Haslett) were also chosen to the All-Central Region first team. Neuner tallied 18 goals in 23 matches with seven game-winning goals. She finished her career as Chicago's all-time leader with 78 goals in 82 contests.
