October 30, 2005 BOSTON -- Senior forward Renee Neuner (Haslett, Mich./Haslett) scored two goals as the 14th-ranked University of Chicago women's soccer team defeated host Brandeis University 5-0 in University Athletic Association play on Sunday. With the two goals, Neuner has 24 in UAA play during her career, making her the conference's all-time leading goal scorer. Chicago (13-2-2 overall, 4-1-1 UAA) got on the board 11:46 into the contest on freshman midfielder Olivia Ndyabagye's (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia) third goal of the season. The Maroons put the game away with a pair of goals just 2:19 apart early in the second half. Sophomore forward Christine Farmer (Pine City, N.Y./ Elmira Notre Dame) notched her second goal of the season just 1:07 seconds in the second stanza, before Neuner scored the record-breaking goal at 48:26. The Maroons added two more goals in the game's final 15 minutes. Junior defender Bridget Hogan (Lombard, Ill./ Glenbard East) tallied her first of the season at 75:49. Neuner then tallied her second of the day and 14th of the year with 1:47 remaining in the match. Senior netminder Andrea Przybysz (Troy, Mich./ Athens) collected five saves en route to her eighth shutout of the season as Chicago extended its unbeaten streak to nine matches (8-0-1) with its fifth consecutive victory. Brandeis fell to 7-8-1 overall, 1-5-0 in UAA play. |
