November 18, 2005 CHICAGO -- Senior Kay Saul (Long Beach, Calif./ Polytechnic) and junior Sally Hall (Durham, N.C./ Jordan) scored second-half goals to lead the University of Chicago to a 2-1 win over defending national champion Wheaton (Ill.) College in NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship sectional semifinal competition Friday at Chicago's Stagg Field. Saul opened the scoring 3:38 into the second half when she tallied her first career goal off a direct kick. Hall then notched her first goal of the season on an assist from senior midfielder Jacqui DeLeon (Mission Viejo, Calif./ Trabuco Hills) at the 74:00 mark. Wheaton (21-3) senior Jen Binger scored her 17th goal of the season from junior Colleen McAndrews with just eight seconds left in the contest. Chicago (17-2-2) will meet the University of Puget Sound (18-1-2) in the sectional championship Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The winner of that contest advances to the national semifinals to be held in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Nov. 25-26. |
