October 29, 2005 MONMOUTH, Ill. -- The University of Chicago women's swimming & diving team won a pair of dual meets at Monmouth (Ill.) College on Saturday with a 122-77 decision over Monmouth and a 124-28 win over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Junior Katherine Yang (Palo Alto, Calif./ Gunn) won the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle (5:37.20, 11:33.90), while freshman Sarah Laws (Eagleville, Pa./ Methacton) took top honors in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle (26.13, 57.57). Freshman Rachel Zarnke (Rockford, Ill./ Boylan) won the 200-yard individual medley (2:25.84). In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the Chicago team of Laws, Yang, Zarnke, and freshman Zoe Van Gelder (Falls Church, Va./ Marshall) clocked a winning time of 3:59.00. Chicago improved its dual meet record to 2-1. |
