Chicago Drops Two at Wheaton Triangular

WHEATON, Ill. -- The University of Chicago women's swimming and diving team lost two dual meets Saturday at the Wheaton College Triangular, falling to the host Thunder 147-57 and to Carthage College 131-73.

Freshman Rachel Zarnke (Rockford, Ill./ Boylan) turned in the Maroons' lone first-place finish as she won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:21.39.

Junior Katherine Yang (Palo Alto, Calif./ Gunn) and freshman Kaitlin Roche (Wheaton, Ill./ St. Francis) each posted a pair of top-three performances. Yang finished third in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle (2:03.17, 5:24.13), while Roche was the runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:36.64) and third-place finisher in the 200-yard individual medley (2:24.45).

Freshman Sarah Laws (Eagleville, Pa./ Methacton) notched a third-place showing in the 100-yard freestyle (56.92 seconds).

The Maroons dropped to 2-6 in dual meet competition season.
