May 5, 2006 ST. PETER, Minn. -- The University of Chicago women's tennis team dropped a 5-3 decision to Wheaton (Ill.) College in the 2006 NCAA Division III Central Region semifinals Friday at Gustavus Adolphus College. Senior Annie Miller (Wynnewood, Pa./ Lower Merion) posted the Maroons' lone singles victory with a 6-4, 6-3 decision over Wheaton's Shannon Hale at the fifth position. Chicago took two of three doubles contests. At first doubles, junior Ade Omodele-Lucien (Pebble Beach, Calif./ Stevenson) and freshman Vindya Dayananda (Kathmandu, Nepal/ Lincoln School) notched a 9-8 win over Elizabeth Maclellan and Jordan Hook. Miller and sophomore Michele Parad (London, England/ American School) defeated Hale and Leah Moberg 8-3 at the fifth slot. Chicago, which was making its first-ever NCAA Division III women's tennis postseason appearance, finished the season with a record of 15-9.
