February 4, 2006 CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago women's indoor track & field team finished 5-1 in dual meet competition at the seven-team Chicago Duals Saturday at the Henry Crown Field House. Three Maroons posted first-place finishes. Senior Jessica Winter (Wheaton, Ill./ Wheaton-Warrenville South) won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.87, while sophomore Appie Hirve (Burke, Va./ Jefferson Science & Math) and freshman Olivia Ndyabagye (Albuquerque, N.M./ Sandia) took top honors in the triple jump (10.96 m) and long jump (5.29 m), respectively. Chicago competitors also notched four runner-up performances: junior Alexandra Robertson (Yakima, Wash./ A.C. Davis) in the 800-meter run (2:25.48), sophomore Cynthia Lin (State College, Pa./ State College) in the 200-meter dash (27.33 seconds), sophomore Somayeh Jahedi (Clarendon Hills, Ill./ Hinsdale Central) in the triple jump (10.31 m), and sophomore Hannah Moots (Nashville, Tenn./ University School) in the 3,000-meter run (11:15.25). North Central College posted a 6-0 dual meet mark to edge the 5-1 Maroons. |
