June 2, 2006 CHICAGO -- University of Chicago senior Jessica Winter (Wheaton, Ill./ Wheaton-Warrenville South) has been selected to the 2006 ESPN the Magazine College Division Academic All-District Team for women's cross country and track & field. Winter, a mathematics major with a 3.72 grade point average, was one of 10 athletes chosen to the District 5 second team. During the 2005 cross country season, Winter earned All-America accolades and was the runner-up at the University Athletic Association and Midwest Region Championships. In indoor track & field, she was part of Chicago's All-America distance medley relay team as well as the UAA champion in the mile run and runner-up in the 3,000-meter run. Winter was a national qualifier in the 1,500-meter run in outdoor track & field. She also earned All-UAA honors in a pair of events during the outdoor campaign, placing second as a member of the 3,200-meter relay team and posting a third-place showing in the 1,500-meter run. Winter earned nine UAA Athlete of the Week citations in 2005-06, four each in cross country and indoor track & field and one in outdoor track & field. |
