Maroons Win Road Finale
LISLE, Ill. -- Playing its final road game of the 2007 campaign, the University of Chicago baseball team jumped out to an early lead and held on for a 6-3 win at Benedictine (Ill.) University on Wednesday evening.
Senior starter Dan Cozzi (Park Ridge, Ill./ St. Ignatius) pitched the first eight innings to earn the win, before junior Dominik Meyer (River Forest, Ill./ Oak Park-River Forest) came on to post a scoreless ninth for his first career save.
Cozzi (5-2) allowed just four hits and one earned run en route to his 13th career victory -- tying him for eighth place on the Chicago career chart.
The Maroons scored single runs in four of the first six innings and led 4-2 after seven complete frames. Chicago added a pair of runs in the ninth to seal its second straight win and seventh in its last nine outings.
